PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline primary battery which is improved in operation stability of a digital equipment by maintaining excellent large load discharge characteristics and suppressing polarization at the time of large load discharge, and further, which is superior in large load discharge characteristics after storage in high temperature.;SOLUTION: The alkaline primary battery contains nickel oxyhydroxide and manganese dioxide as a cathode active material and calcium is solid dissolved in the nickel oxyhydroxide. The nickel oxyhydroxide in which calcium is solid dissolved has a half width on the (101) face in powder X-ray diffraction of 0.6 to 0.8 deg./2θ and a half width on the (001) face of 0.5 to 0.7 deg./2θ, and is obtained by oxidizing calcium-containing nickel hydroxide which is a coprecipitation product obtained by neutralizing nickel salt aqueous solution and calcium salt aqueous solution by alkali.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
