PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new metal chelate complex compound having excellent solubility in a coating solvent and light resistance, enabling the recording with blue laser light and useful as a dye for forming a recording layer of an optical recording medium.;SOLUTION: The invention provides a hydrazide compound expressed by general formula (1), a metal chelate complex compound composed of the hydrazide compound and a metal atom and expressed by general formula (2), and a dye for forming a recording layer of an optical recording medium and containing the metal chelate complex compound. In the formulas (1) and (2), the ring A is an aromatic ring which may have substituents; R¹ is hydrogen, an aromatic ring which may have substituents or a ≤20C univalent non-aromatic ring substituent; R² to R⁴ are each independently an aromatic ring which may have substituents or a ≤20C univalent non-aromatic ring substituent; and M in the general formula (2) is a metal atom.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
