PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging the superior product meat character of bovine utilizing the genetic variation of bovine PPAR2 gene. PSOLUTION: The method for judging the superior product meat character of bovine when bovine rearing period cutting is targeted comprises the following process. When the bovine in question represents a heterovariant having the genetic variation (Ala18Val) of the bovine PPAR2 gene, such a character that the bovine of 28-31 months old exhibits the increase in cold carcass body weight and/or bulk meat thickness reverse-dependently in terms of shipping months old is utilized.
