PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving intention estimating device for accurately estimating the driving intention of a driver according to the traveling situation of an own vehicle. PSOLUTION: The driving intention estimating device sets a plurality of virtual drivers respectively having driving intentions, computes the driving operation amount of each virtual driver based on a vehicle state and a state around the own vehicle, and estimates the driving intention of the actual driver by comparing the computed driving operation amount of the virtual driver with the driving operation amount of the actual driver to determine an approximation degree. When a distance between the own vehicle and a preceding vehicle is larger than a predetermined value, the driving operation amount of the virtual driver is computed based on an in-lane lateral position of the own vehicle computed from the relative relationship between the own vehicle and a lane marker, and when the distance is the predetermined value or less, the driving operation amount of the virtual driver is computed based on the relative relationship between the own vehicle and the preceding vehicle.
