PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of determining the degree of compost decay of a compost referring to a product in a short time of within 10-30 minutes by a person who does not have professional knowledge or experience, such as a compost producer, user or buyer in distribution business at a compost production place, and moreover who can determine the compost decay degree stepwise, using simple and quick operation, and at low cost.;SOLUTION: A prescribed solution for determination is added to an object compost, to condense compost extracts containing humic substances and rotted substances; absorbance of the liquid phase acquired by precipitating with solid-liquid separating operation decreases with the progress of the degree of compost decay; and based on this correlation, the degree of compost decay is determined from the shade of the color of the compost liquid phase.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
