PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layer porous metallic material in which in a surface layer part and an inner part, the directivity of pores and a pore distribution density in the cross-sectional direction are changed gradually and lamellarly, and a method for producing the metallic material.;SOLUTION: String-shaped vacancy crosslinking materials 9 are bonded to each other, and the pores 3 communicating from its one surface 1A to the other surface 1B are provided. In the surface layer part 4 connected to the surface 1A and the surface 1B, the crosslinking materials 9 are bonded relatively three-dimensionally to each other to form a three-dimensional structure 15. The inner part 15, since the directivity and distribution density of the pores 3 are changed gradually and lamellarly, is formed as a compressed structure part 16 as a whole and has a multi-layer structure as a whole. In the surface layer part 4, the crosslinking materials 9 are bonded to each other in three-dimensional free directions to be the three-dimensional structure part 15 having the three-dimensional pores.
