PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal strip manufacturing method which is capable of removing any pickup on a surface of an in-furnace roll of a heat treatment furnace without using any facility having a complicated mechanism, and free from any dent flaw by the pickup, and has excellent surface quality. ;SOLUTION: The method for removing foreign matters from the in-furnace rolls in which the metal strip is passed through the in-furnace rolls at a speed having a differential speed to the circumferential speed of the in-furnace rolls 2 and 3, comprises (a) a step of increasing the winding angle of the metal strip around the in-furnace rolls compared with that of a regular operation by pressing the metal strip by a pressing means in the vicinity of the in-furnace rolls 2 and 3 to displace the strip passing position, and (b) a step of increasing the in-furnace tension in the metal strip compared with the regular operation. In another embodiment, the in-furnace rolls 2 and 3 in contact with the metal strip are idled with the metal strip stopped.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
