PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a food product by which deterioration of a cooking oil and an increase in unfavorable component occurring in processes of cooking and production of the food product are controlled and/or finish degrees of color, flavor, fragrance and palatability, or the like, in cooking and the obtained product are improved when the food product is produced by using the cooking oil and to obtain a treating agent for a cooking oil usable for the method. SOLUTION: Food products such as various kinds of fried food products are produced by treating a cooking oil with a treating agent for the cooking oil which is characterized in that a titanium catalytic component containing titanium, a titanium alloy, their oxides or their mixtures is supported on the surface of a carrier composed of a metal, ceramic or their mixture. The treatment of the cooking oil with the treating agent comprises immersion of the treating agent in a cooking oil and heat treatment of the mixture.
