PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user of a mobile phone with which a GPS function is not provided to specify his present location.;SOLUTION: A call is originated from a public telephone set 1A to a mobile telephone set 3 by a user of the mobile telephone set 3, an identification number a1 of the public telephone set 1A is transmitted to a communication line 2, and call information (b) is exchanged between the public telephone set 1A and the mobile telephone set 3. The identification number a1 is transmitted from the communication line 2 to the mobile telephone set 3. The identification number a1 is transmitted from the mobile telephone set 3 by electronic mail, and received by a location information providing apparatus 4. In the location information providing apparatus 4, a map database 5 is retrieved, and location information of the public telephone set 1A corresponding to the identification number a1 is read out. As the location information read by the location information providing apparatus 4, map information (m) around the public telephone set 1A is transmitted to the mobile telephone set 3 by electronic mail and displayed on a display unit.
