PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for precisely predicting the rolling load even when the rolling is carried out outside the applicable range of the conventional plate rolling theory, such as the case of the dull-roll rolling at the final stand of a tandem type cold rolling machine, and further to provide a method for controlling a dull-roll rolling. PSOLUTION: The rolling load at the final stand of the continuous type cold rolling machine using the dull-roll is predicted by obtaining a flattened radius R'c of a roll from the theoretical formula for a flattened radius of a roll based on a correcting coefficient β preliminarily calculated for various rolling conditions, an initial radius RSBo/SBof the roll, and a parameter CSBp/SBdetermined by the rolling conditions, and then by calculating the rolling load at the final stand by simultaneously solving the equation of the corrected flattened radius R'c of the roll and the equation of the rolling load. By the method, the rolling load can be precisely calculated even when the rolling is carried out outside the applicable range of the conventional plate rolling theory.
