A BIOMETRIC METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION USING MULTIPLE PATTERNS ON NAIL SIDE OF FINGER (S)

A method and system of personal identification involving biometrics based on image processing of multiple and distinctive 2-D image patterns on atleast one finger from the nail side of the hand, creating and storing the distinctive image patterns with corresponding distinctive center locations thereof on said finger(s) under a distinct Personal Identification Number (PIN) and verification of a person’s identity by searching each of the stored distinctive image patterns corresponding to the distinctive Personal Identification Number (PIN) with respect to the hand image of said person and matching utilizing 2D normalized correlation technique for similar said distinctive patterns and identifying the maximum correlation value for each of said template patterns and its location for said personal authentication. The invention would favour high security in various high security zones/purposes and avoid the limitations of simple hand /finger dimensions based personal identification.
