A sliding window lock with handle connected to engaging finger which is biased to hold window in place and movable against bias for opening window
A sliding window lock with handle connected to engaging finger which is biased to hold window in place and movable against bias for opening window
A sliding window or door lock is disclosed for use in sliding windows or doors made from extruded metal such as aluminium. The window lock 1 is used by fitting to a window frame 11 of a window 5 that is slidably received within an outer window frame 9. The window frame 11 carries an engaging means 15 biased to extend from the window frame 11 and to engage with a restricting means 19 during the sliding of the window frame 11 in the outer window frame 9. A handle 3 is connected with the engaging means 15 for permitting the engaging means 15 to be made non-engaging with the restricting means 19 by overcoming a bias used to cause the engaging means to extend from window frame 11. Thus, the window 5 is able to be stopped from opening sliding movement by the engaging means 15 being biased to engage with the restricting means 19 unless the handle 3 is operated to overcome the bias.
