The invention relates to an electrochemical reactor for electrochemically treating the sulphurous effluents of natural or artificial origin, resulting from balneophysiotherapy and/or technological processes ofs tanning skins, producing cellulosic fibers, sulphides or sulphured hydrogen. The electrochemical reactor for treating sulphurous effluents, without a separating diaphragm, is provided with an alternating system of plan-parallel electrodes, the anode consisting of a series of anode packs consisting of two soluble electrodes and an inert electrode made of a porous material having a filling factor of 0.75 and situated between the soluble electrodes, the inert cathode being outflanked, on both sides, by the mentioned anode packs.
