摘要
The invention relates to Dichrostachys glomerata, a tropical African plant, sickle bush, from the Mimosaceae family, which is gathered at an altitude below 500 metres (leaves and branches with diameter of less than 2 centimetres) and which, after dehydration, is macerated for 45 minutes at 100 DEG C in order to produce an antiviral substance known as Apivirine (100 kilograms producing 3,100 grams, pH of between 3 and 4, moisture content of less than 10 %). Apivirine reduces the viral load (undetectable result) and restores the immune system, mainly by re-establishing the level of CD4 lymphocytes, i.e. the master defence cell and the main target of HIV. In this way, Apivirine is an active antiretroviral agent which is immediately effective in relation to HIV/AIDS. Apivirine can be transformed into a medicament in any pharmaceutical industry. The daily dose for an adult is 30 grams which is administered in three divided doses (continuous treatment). The viral load and CD4 counting provide the biological parameters which confirm the anti-HIV effectiveness thereof. The invention can also be used to treat measles, ulcers and gynaecological diseases.
