Kettle comprising: a window formed in at least part of an outer wall of the kettle; and at least one light source fixed to an inner surface of said kettle at a position of said window and above a maximum liquid level of said kettle for illuminating a top surface of any liquid contained in said kettle such that a liquid level inside the boiler can be seen through said window.
