Apparatus, oilfield assemblies, and methods of use are described. Theapparatuscomprises, in one embodiment, a swellable elastomeric composition comprising aswellableelastomer and one or more nanosensors dispersed therein and shaped into anoilfieldelement. Methods of the invention comprise using an apparatus of the inventionin anoilfield operation, thus exposing the oilfield element to an oilfieldenvironment, and sensingone or more reservoir parameters.
