METHODS, SYSTEMS AND COMPUTER PROGRAMM FOR 3D-REGISTRATI0N OF THREE DIMENSIONAL DATA SETS OBTAINED BY PREFERABLY OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY BASED ON THE ALIGNMENT OF PROJECTION IMAGES OR FUNDUS IMAGES, RESPECTIVELY
Methods of registration of three dimensional data sets obtained from a sample over time are provided. A first three dimensional data set is obtained from the sample at a first time. A first volume intensity projection (VIP) image is created from the first three dimensional data set. One or more first landmarks are identified in the first VIP image. A second three dimensional data set is obtained from the sample at a second time, different from the first time. A second VIP image is created from the second three dimensional data set. The one ore more first landmarks are identified in the second VIP image. The first and second VIP images are aligned based on the one or more first landmarks in the first and second VIP images to locate a subject area of the first three dimensional data set in the second three dimensional data set so as to allow comparison of the sublect area in the first and second three dimensional data sets at the respective first and the times. Related systems and computer program products are also provided.
