The invention relates to a fuel cell system having a fuel cell stack (10) and having a device for supplying a medium in order to influence the thermal and temperature budget of the fuel cell stack. The invention provides for the capability to provide the medium with a temperature- and/or volume-flow profile which can be varied at right angles to its flow direction. The invention also relates to a method for influencing the thermal and temperature budget of a fuel cell stack.
