The invention relates to a method and to an associated device for detecting the moment that a vehicle wheel regains grip from, on the one hand, a measurement of the speed of said wheel and an estimate of the reference speed of the vehicle and, on the other hand, an estimate of the derivative of spin, such that it comprises the following steps: - calculating the absolute spinning of the wheel from its measured speed and from the estimated speed of the vehicle; - estimating the moment at which the wheel begins to spin; - defining the unreliable nature of the spinning of the wheel established on the basis of the estimated speed of the vehicle; - determining wheel rehabilitation conditions according to the derivative of absolute spin estimated independently of the vehicle speed; - detecting the moment said wheel regains its grip on the ground as a function of the reliability of the spinning.
