The invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising: i) at least one compound which has affinity for the µ opioid receptor, and at least one compound which has affinity for the VR1 receptor, or ii) at least one compound of the general formulae (I), (II), (III), (IV) or (V) which has affinity for the µ opioid receptor and for the VR1 receptor, and to the use of the pharmaceutical compositions (i) and (ii) for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of pain.
