20 kinds of lowly expressed genes in an epilepsy tissue as an epilepsy marker are provided to be quantified in a patient tissue rapidly and sensitively, thereby being very usefully used for diagnosing the epilepsy. A kit for detecting epilepsy by measuring the expression of a lowly-expressed gene in an epilepsy tissue comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of the lowly-expressed gene in an epilepsy tissue selected from the group consisting of GAPDH, TSC22, TTR, DEPP, SPP1, ACTG2, ID2, HNLF, CPE, MBP, LDHA, HSPA9B, A2BP1, PPP2CA, ATP6VE1, MAP2, MGC8685, HLA-C, ARF1 and VSNL1, a complimentary probe thereof, a sense primer and an antisense primer of the gene having a sequence of SEQ ID : NOs. 5 to 46. A method for screening an epilepsy inhibitor comprises the steps of: (a) binding at least one protein encoded by the gene to a test compound; and (b) fixing the protein to an affinity chromatography column and contacting it with a sample to be tested so as to identify whether the test compound promotes or inhibits the action of the protein through purification, a two-hybrid method, a western blotting method or a high-throughput screening method.
