The display device for reducing the consumed wattage of Display Power Manegement mode and method for controlling the same

An image device for reducing power consumption at a DPM(Display Power Management) mode and a method for controlling the image device are provided to greatly reduce power consumption by mounting a microcomputer-exclusive transistor of low capacity on a power board. An image device(201) includes a transistor for supplying power to each IC(Integrated Circuit) on a main board(206). A control part determines whether the image device is operated under a DPM mode and prevents the transistor from supplying the power to the IC if the image device is operated under the DPM mode. An exclusive transistor(209) supplies constant power only to the control part regardless of the DPM mode. The exclusive transistor has minimum capacity capable of activating the control part. The control part includes a microcomputer(208) of the main board which determines whether the image device is operated under the DPM mode, and a microcomputer(205) of a power board(202) which prevents the transistor from supplying the power to the IC if the image device is operated under the DPM mode.
