PURPOSE: A method for reducing power consumption of a graphic accelerator and a display are provided to reduce power consumption of a battery required for a hand-held device including a graphic display. CONSTITUTION: A hand-held device is switched to a standby mode, namely, to a partial display mode(501). A control signal is transmitted to a display module or a display driver from an LCD controller so that the display module or the display driver operates in the partial display mode(503). A display operation requires three color data bits per pixel(505). Clock frequencies required for the partial mode are reduced in proportion to the number of bits simultaneously clocked to the display module or to the display drive from a memory(507). A special memory block is used to store the partial display pixel data(509). A plurality of pixels are simultaneously clocked to a display from a memory unit(511). Power of the partial display mode memory block and partial display is maintained(513,515).
