AN ANTIOXIDATIVE COMPOUND ISOLATED FROM THE WHOLE PLANT OF IXERIS SONCHIFOLIA HANCE AND ISOLATION METHOD THEREOF

A compound isolated from the whole plant of Ixeris sonchifolia Hance is provided to show high anti-oxidative effect with a specific structure of guaianolide sesquiterpene lactone, so that it is useful as a novel natural antioxidant and a lead compound of various anti-oxidative compound derivatives. An anti-oxidative compound, ixerinoside, is isolated by extracting the whole plant of Ixeris sonchifolia Hance with methanol, concentrating the methanol extract of Ixeris sonchifolia Hance under reduced pressure to remove methanol, and subjecting the concentrated extract of Ixeris sonchifolia Hance to solvent fraction, XAD-2 column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography, octadecylsilane column chromatography and HPLC, sequentially, and its structure is determined by MS(mass spectroscopy) and NMR(Nuclear magnetic resonance) analyses.
