An HMM13 protein is provided to be used as a target of a therapeutic drug regarding renal cyst and treat rapidly the renal cyst in early stage of the attack when a drug is designed as a therapeutic agent regarding renal cysts symptoms. An HMM13 protein involving with an attack of renal cyst and dominantly expressed in kidney tissues consists of an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 2, wherein the protein is derived from mammal. A gene encoding the HMM13 protein consists of a sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 1. A recombinant vector includes the gene. A transformant is transformed by the recombinant vector. A marker for diagnosing the attack of the renal cyst comprises the sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 1. A microarray for diagnosing the attack of the renal cyst comprises the sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 1 or an antibody against the HMM13 protein. A method for treating the renal cyst of a test animal such as dog, cat, pig, cow, mouse, zebrafish and drosophila comprises a step of inhibiting the expression of the gene in the test animal.
