A method for preparing a ginko leaves extract and a chestnut bark extract having excellent degrading effects of algae is provided to reduce damages of a lake or river ecology caused by algae, and a method for removing algae using the ginko leaves extract and the chestnut bark extract prepared by the method is provided. A method for removing algae comprises: using a ginko leaves extract extracted through the steps of mixing ginko leaves with 30 to 70% Me-OH, subjecting the mixed solution to sonication and filtering the extracted solution, and a chestnut bark extract extracted through the steps of mixing chestnut bark with distilled water, heating the mixed solution, cooling the heated solution and filtering the cooled solution. The method for removing algae comprises controlling concentration of the ginko leaves extract to a range of 0.01 to 10% of the entire volume, and injecting the concentration-controlled ginko leaves extract into the habitat of algae. The method for removing algae comprises controlling concentration of the chestnut bark extract to a range of 0.5 to 2% of the entire volume, and injecting the concentration-controlled chestnut bark extract into the habitat of algae.
