QUERCUS ACUTISSIMA COMPOSITION AS A beta;-SECRETASE INHIBITOR

A composition comprising the extract of Quercus acutissima bark is provided to inhibit specifically activity of beta-secretase(beta-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme) associated with beta-amyloid peptide as a causing substance of Alzheimer's disease without side effects, so that the composition is useful for preventing and treating dementia. A composition for preventing Alzheimer's dementia comprises the extract of Quercus acutissima bark which is prepared by extracting Quercus acutissima bark with methanol, ethanol or hot water, and is a pharmaceutical or health food composition such as fermented milk and beverage, wherein the daily dosage of the composition is 1-30 mg/kg.
