METHOD OF MANUFACTURING U3O8 POWDER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING UO2 FUEL PELLETS USING THE SAME

A method for manufacturing U3O8 powder and a method for manufacturing UO2 fuel pellets using the same are provided to convert UO2 powder into U3O8 powder and to store the UO2 fuel pallets stably. A method for manufacturing U3O8 powder includes the steps of: compressing UO2 powder or inferior UO2 powder to a green body(S12); sintering the green body in a gas atmosphere including hydrogen to form a sintered body of UO2 fine crystalline or a sintered body of low density UO2(S14); and oxidizing the sintered body of UO2 fine crystalline or the sintered body of low density UO2 in a gas atmosphere including oxygen within a temperature range between 380 to 550 degrees centigrade to fabricate U3O8 powder(S16).
