The method involves exerting braking force at a rotary body (1) of a printing machine driven with a drive moment. An actual speed of the drive moment is detected, and the braking force is adjusted based on the detected drive moment of the rotary body. The braking force is adjusted such that the drive moment of the rotary body is reduced to zero. A drive unit (3) is used for adjustment of the drive moment of the rotary body for adjustment the braking force.
