The method and device for the bivalent use of rainwater utilization systems is designed so that water can be collected in a tank and extracted from the tank again. The water which is in the tank can be heated or cooled by a medium which is hydraulically decoupled via an exchanger unit. The customary components which are necessary for storing rain water and for using the rainwater, such as inlets, filters, overflows, pumps, and replenishing and control systems, are partially or wholly contained in the tank which is suitable for installation in the ground. An independent claim is included for a system for application of the aforesaid method.
