The system has a heat pump circuit (200) that causes coolant on its high pressure side to adopt a pressure level greater than or equal to a critical coolant pressure, and coolant on its low pressure side to absorb heat from the atmosphere. A heat exchanger performs a heat exchange between the coolant on the high pressure side and a fluid producing hot water. The hot water producing fluid and the heated coolant flow in opposite directions in the heat exchanger, whereby the water heated by the coolant on the high pressure side is stored in the tank.
