Structural member e.g. B-column for passenger car, has flange formed from spot welding together three sheet metals, with one of sheet metals made from hardened steel and having edges raised out from between spot welds
A flange (2) of a B-column or high strut is formed from spot-welding together three sheet metals (3,4,5). One of the sheet metals (4), which is a B-column reinforcement, is formed of hardened steel with martensite content of over 50 percent and with tensile strength of more than 800 mega Pascals. The edges (7) of the sheet metal (4) rises up from between the spot welds (6). The other sheet metals serve as inner and outer panels.
