The system has a pump device for pumping a fuel from a low pressure region of the system to a high pressure region. A pressure storage system (13) is connected with injectors by a high pressure fuel line (10). The high pressure fuel line connects the pump device with the pressure storage system, where the high pressure fuel line stays permanently under high pressure. A casing (15) is attached to the high pressure fuel line. The casing exhibits a wall thickness that withstands a definite emergency operating pressure in case of a breakage of the high pressure fuel line.
