The arrangement has an outward extending, movable tactile bracket (86) attached in a front end of an arm i.e. divisor rod (68), for detecting a plant e.g. corn, coming toward the arm. A sensor detects a position of the plant and supplies a signal to a self-propelled steering control unit (94) of a self-propelled harvesting machine (10). The arm is mounted in a rear area of a harvester (20) and is arranged above a harvest accommodating device of the harvester, where the divisor rod is fastened in an adjustable manner.
