The vehicle seat has a locking device (5) for locking a backrest (3) in an upright utilization position. A seat cushion support (22) is adjustable between a rear utilization position and a front lowered function position. A coupling device couples a retractable movement of the backrest and an adjustment movement of the seat cushion support. The coupling device exhibits a gear wheel (20) that is supported at a seat frame (2) or at the backrest. The gear wheel is provided in engagement with a gear teeth region (3.2) that is formed at a lower side of the backrest.
