The method involves determining a position signal (y) as output signal on the basis of an input signal. A data base is completely determined, before optimizing of the model actuator takes place. The data base is formed for a model actuator from the measured signals. The modified set-point signal (x) is determined with the optimized model actuator. An independent claim is also included for a device for online compensation of non-linearity in transmission behavior of an actuator.
