The coating is formed as an electroplated, metallic covering. It is a zinc-nickel coating, containing 12-15% nickel. Its thickness is 5-25 mu m. A further coating is included, this comprises organic materials. It is a powder coating of layer thickness 50-150 mu m. It is applied onto the electroplated coating. Tensile strength of the component is 1000-2400 MPa. The component is e.g. a coil spring, a spring clip or a screw. The electroplating is applied using a membrane technology. The powder coating is sintered onto the electroplating. An independent claim is included for the method of manufacture.
