The present invention relates to a novel alkaline protease of the subtilisin - type from bacillus gibsonii and sufficiently related proteins and their derivatives. It also relates to washing - and cleaning agents with this new alkaline protease of the subtilisin - type, sufficiently related proteins and their derivatives, corresponding washing - and purification process and their use in washing - and cleaning agents as well as further technical possibilities of use.
