The monitoring device has two line sections (102,104), where both line sections are switched into series. A measuring instrument (110) is so formed that current flows through the former line section depending upon a measuring signal (112) and initializes another measuring signal depending upon the voltage drop at the latter line section. An evaluation unit (120) provides a monitoring signal (122) depending upon two measuring signals, and evaluation values indicated by monitoring signal indicate if the powerline is error free or incorrect.
