The operating device (10) has a human-machine interface (12) for operating an equipment (21) and another equipment (22). The former equipment has a functionality of a type and latter equipment has another functionality of the type. Both functionality are operated by the human-machine interface. The operating device has a menu structure such that the former functionality of the type and latter functionality of the type are operated in the menu structure with smaller distance from each other as for further functionality of a further type. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling of an operating device.
