The method involves connecting a load (19) to an electronic control unit (1). An entire power required for operation of the electronic control unit and the load is obtained from an pulse width modulation (PWM) signal. The energy is temporarily stored and the highest power is delivered to the load during a time interval, in which the PWM signal is active. The load is switched-on earlier when the PWM signal is changed from an inactive condition into an active condition. An independent claim is also included for an electronic control unit for a motor vehicle light or motor vehicle headlamp.
