Reliability prognoses with commercial applications for electronic control units in motor vehicles

To determine the reliability of series ECU's, eg the associated hazard rate, modern statistical procedures and models including their parameters are presented using real field data. Based on these prognoses new methods are shown to easilycalculate the mean hazard rates. Furthermore, the cost effects of extended guarantee periods and the expected numbers of series spare parts and final stock quantities can be determined. These models are very practicable and helpful.
