The invention relates to soft-modified polyvinyl acetal resins which can be obtained by saponification of copolymers of vinyl acetate and one or several tertiary vinyl esters of alpha-branched monocarboxylic acids having 9-15 C atoms, containing 5 - 60 percent by weight tertiary vinyl ester, in relation to the total weigh of the monomers, followed by acetalization of the saponification products which comprise vinyl alcohol with the aid of one or several aldehydes having 1 - 6 C atoms.
