PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-axis photoelectric type safety device which has both a protecting function, i.e., a shield detecting function that the multi-axis photoelectric type safety device originally has and allows a shield such as a work to pass through a light curtain while securing safety.;SOLUTION: The multi-axis photoelectric type safety device 10 comprises a light projection unit 13, a photodetection unit 14, a control means which controls the multi-axial light curtain between those light projection unit 13 and photodetection unit 14 by the optical axes 17, and a muting area setting means for setting an area where a muting function is displayed by teaching.
