The method involves reducing a section of air passage in an inlet circuit (7) in downstream of a closing unit (72) when regeneration phase of a filtering unit (62) and a slowdown functioning state of an engine is detected. A multiple injection of fuel is made in each cylinder (5) at each combustion cycle of the motor, where the multiple injection has a main injection to form a fueled mixture ready to be ignited and auxiliary injections to form a homogeneous premixture of fuel injected with air admitted in the cylinder.
