The method involves removing a gas mixture in an inlet line (20) during normal functioning phase of an internal combustion engine (10) to introduce the mixture in an exhaust line (40) of the engine in upstream of a particle filter (46). The line (20) has a compressor (31) in downstream of which the mixture is removed and the line (40) has an oxidation catalyst (44) in downstream of which the mixture is introduced. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine for implementing a particle filter passive regeneration method.
