The system has information acquisition unit (3) acquiring information of pressure in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine (1) on functioning cycles of the engine. A filtering unit (4) filters a measured pressure signal. An information acquisition unit (2) acquires information of an angle of a crankshaft of the engine and speed of the shaft. Isolating units permits to separate parts of the signal corresponding to different physical events. A signal selection unit (7) selects a preset parameter signal, and a calculation unit (8) calculates a rate of combustion noise of the engine.
