The method involves varying a control parameter for controlling an injecting valve (17) in dependence of confirmation signals (s1, s2), where the signals characterize an audible operating noise of an internal-combustion engine (19). A noise characteristic of a desired operating noise of the engine is preset and the control parameter is regulated depending on the signals in such a manner that noise characteristic of audible operating noise is adapted to the preset noise characteristic of the desired operating noise. An independent claim is also included for a fuel system for an internal-combustion engine, comprising a fuel injecting valve for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of the engine.
