The method involves monitoring a lubricant i.e. oil, temperature and controlling a capacity reduction of an air conditioner (20) of a rotocraft i.e. helicopter, when the lubricant temperature attains or exceeds a determined value, where the determined temperature ranges between 90 and 100 degree Celsius. The lubricant temperature is measured in an outlet of a lubricant cooler (10). The capacity reduction of the air conditioner is obtained by a reduction of volume that is scanned by a time unit of a compressor (21) provided with a variable capacity piston. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a program comprising a code executed by a data processing unit for controlling an air conditioner of a rotocraft (2) an air conditioner controlling device comprising a lubricant temperature reading and acquiring module (3) a rotocraft comprising a rotor.
