The method involves selecting number of reference operating points, and establishing a local model for each operating point and for each output, where the operating points are defined by engine speed torques. The local models are fused by a statistical training method to determine a model for calculating every operating point, where the fusion of the local models is realized by neuron networks or by a support vector regression. The selected operating points have thirteen points derived from a cycle based on motor vehicles emissions group (MVEG) standard.
